The taxis are great and cheap if you do one thing, and one thing only: only use taxis in which the driver uses the meter. If the driver does not want to use the meter, simply get out and find another taxi. The stated prices without a meter are always two or three times higher than the meter. Taxis in Bangkok must have meters…never take a taxi that doesn’t use the meter.
