International Football (Soccer) Academy Tips – Achieving Your Soccer Fitness Goals
When you plan to train at an elite football (soccer) academy or prepare your own football training ahead of time at home, it can be difficult to stay on target. But if you have a goal in mind and specific steps to achieve that goal, you’re miles ahead of other people who are just dreaming.
This kind of preparation makes all the difference in the world. The coaches of our international football academies can always tell the difference between players who work to prepare and those who show up at our football academies. For you, it could be the difference between looking sideways and achieving your football goals.
International Football Academy Training and Conditioning
The first step is to set goals and objectives that you want to achieve in football. You can do this on a monthly basis. For example, if you arrive at your football academy in September, set yourself a 6 month schedule to decide where you want to be in terms of fitness.
The idea is to set realistic and measurable goals. Set your goals based on an assessment of yourself, not your peers. You know where you are right now and you know you want to be in the best shape possible when you arrive at an international football academy to start your football training.
Seek to make that improvement every week, every month. The first month can have any number of fitness elements: push-ups, 50-meter sprint, 400-meter mid-pace, etc. Keep in mind that in football you have to be in good shape. You’ll need plenty of upper and lower body strength, and the stamina to run for 90 minutes with little rest, in order to succeed at the highest level.
You’re better off setting goals that you know you can achieve to improve yourself little by little. And you’ll be more likely to stay on target. You can count the number of reps you do and increase by 15% by the end of the month. It’s realistic. Increase it by 75%? It’s probably not realistic.
International Football Academy Language and Culture
For international football academies that have an associated educational program, you should also consider the language component. If you are going to another country with a different language, you should work towards a basic understanding of that language.
Traveling to another country to study football, language and culture will be a complete experience and increase your business potential. Being bilingual is a clear advantage in any business.
Set goals for academics (linguistics) and football. If you are going to high school and are going to an environment where you haven’t spent time speaking the language, your goal should be to arrive on day one with basic communication skills. Acclimate yourself to the language as much as possible, study, listen and speak beforehand.
And above all, show commitment, respect and effort during your studies abroad. Sometimes that extra effort makes the difference in whether or not you receive a passing grade!
Determination and perseverance
NIKE’s slogan, “Just do it”, applies well here. Daily individual training discipline is the most obvious key to success. It’s about what you do when no one else is around. Sticking to your plan is the most important part of your preparation.
When you set up a training program for yourself, it’s easy to let it slip away when you don’t feel like working out. It’s easy to say things like “I’m too tired, so I think I’m going to skip the two hours I have set aside for language or study”. Or get distracted by friends or go to the movies instead of working out.
This is where 95% of people fail: they don’t stick to the plan they have in place. One difference between the pros and the unsuccessful ones: the pros stick to the program. Only athletes with real courage and determination reach the highest level.
Ask yourself to be that special athlete (and student) by showing extreme commitment and determination. You can do it if you are mentally disciplined enough to fully commit!
It is easier to achieve goals or training goals when you participate in an international football academy program. Players have less difficulty sticking to the football training schedule because someone else (the football coach or manager) sets up the training schedule for you. Everyone around you pushes you to perform. You have teammates doing the same thing.
Participating in an international football academy is much more demanding than any other academic or cultural exchange program abroad. You agree to be ready, mentally and physically, to participate as a footballer in the football development academy. You will train daily for nine months.
Keep in mind that the work begins the day you commit to signing up to get the maximum benefits. This means you should arrive ready and prepared to get the most out of your experience at the international football academy.
