What’s Drag got to do with it?

High-speed drag is important because the more a car is able to travel with the air around it at high speed; the better he is able to devote more of his motive power to forward motion. At low speeds, drag is not a significant factor.

-The wheels have a smaller width, if possible. Wide wheels may have better grip but cause higher drag.

-Wheel openings are minimal which would let air into the wheel arch

-The overall shape of the vehicle does not look square.

What else can be considered for fuel economy?

Engine – a turbo-diesel engine is the best heat engine for fuel economy due to the cost of diesel and how a diesel engine works

Mileage – ask for the car’s service book to see which parts have been replaced and which are getting old. Maintain your car regularly to change oil, fluids and more.

Tires – replace worn or soft tires immediately. Check wheel alignment.

Your habits – your driving habits will save you the most gas on the road

Alternative fuels – you can use alternative fuels such as a hydrogen on demand (HOD) system to top up. This system creates hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) on demand from an aqueous medium to mix with air and fuel in the combustion chamber for better performance.

What does a HOD system do?

Hydrogen when compressed and fed into an internal combustion engine:

– Releases more energy than ethanol-based blends, maintaining overall car power

– Completely burns fuel resulting in cleaner emissions

– Increases the octane level of fuel, preventing knocking, making the engine quieter

– Slightly lowers overall engine temperature

– Requires the engine to use less gasoline per cycle

Is it safe?

HOD systems only generate hydrogen on demand and are therefore safe. When no electricity is passed through the HOD system, no reaction is generated. No hydrogen is stored in this system, but it is kept in a medium, which is essentially water.

Cost?

The parts come from everyday parts found at hardware stores and basic electronics stores. The total cost of a base unit can range from $70 to over $200 US.

What most HOD companies offer are do-it-yourself system plans, with offers to build the system for the consumer if they wish. This way the customer can choose to build it themselves or buy a unit once the concept is understood after getting the plans to prevent fraud.
