Top 5 Thailand Honeymoon Destinations

Planning a honeymoon is not easy, especially when there are too many options in your country of choice. A perfect example is Thailand with a diverse range of romantic things to do, whether you prefer beaches, mountains, or cities. A honeymoon in Thailand can be lazy and relaxing or active and adventurous, but either way will feel like a dream. The following five destinations can make that dream come true.

1) Chiang Mai
If you and your loved one have a love for cities or a disliking of beaches than Chiang Mai might just make a perfect honeymoon. The city itself is laid-back, cultural, and cheap compared to the polluted chaotic Bangkok. In Chiang Mai, you can spend your days visiting temples, strolling through markets, learning to cook Thai food in a cooking class (or the many other classes available), and more. If you need a break from the city, there are plenty of day trips involving nature. For example, you can visit the hill trek tribes, trek mountains in Doi Suthep National Park, raft through rivers, swim under waterfalls, and more. If wanting luxury, there are plenty of four and five star hotels around the lovely city of Chiang Mai.

2) Railay
Most Thailand honeymoons revolve around picturesque beaches with emerald waters and tall twisted limestone rocks. Railay brings those mental images to reality especially for rock climbers. If you have never climbed, you will be tempted to take a course at Railay since it is such a mecca for climbing. With that being said, this honeymoon can be what you make it; relaxing or adventurous. Located on the Andaman Coast, it is easy to travel to and from Krabi, Ao Nag, Ko Lanta, Ko Phi Phi, and Phuket Town. The best place to spend your days on the peninsula is Phra Nang, rated one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. For a five star luxurious resort, check out Rayavadee.

3) Hua Hin
Why not experience a REAL Thai honeymoon in Hua Hin, the top destination for Thai couples. Only a three hour drive from Bangkok, the underdeveloped fishing village offers fresh seafood, great night markets, art galleries, cafes, and romantic villas without much feeling of Western tourism. It makes a great choice if you are more interested in meeting locals than foreigners like yourself. There are several options to enjoy nature with several beaches, a waterfall, and Sam Roi Yot National Park (60 km away).

4) Ko Samui
Ko Samui might be commercialized and somewhat cosmopolitan for an island, but if you and your loved one are after a resort getaway, this might be the perfect choice. Ko Samui, located in the Gulf of Thailand, is filled with luxury resorts, spas, and villas. Compared to many Thai islands, it offers the most diverse range of activities so it’s easy to fill your honeymoon days. Ko Samui is the easiest access point to the marvelous Ang Thong National Park, a pristine archipelago of 42 islands. Besides luxurious accommodation and tropical beaches, there is also a thriving nightlife scene on the island. For pure luxury, check out Intercontinental’s Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort.

5) Phuket
It would be rude not to mention Thailand’s largest island, Phuket. It is an older sister island to Ko Samui with commercialism and a wide range of options. Phuket, located on the Andaman Coast, is broken into four regions with two built around tourism. Western Phuket offers the most tourism (almost too much) and a party scene, while Phang Nga Bay is the most famous region for its natural beauty with James Bond Island, and many limestone cliffs, fishing villages, and mangroves. If you saw the movie The Beach, you’ll know a trip to the Phi Phi islands are a must. The list of luxury resorts in Phuket is almost never-ending!

It is not a good bargain to ship the small volume by sea. Cos you need to pay the custom clearance/sheet which might called you some money.
